One week to contribute your talent and solve a real challenge that can improve the lives of more than 1500 villages.
Sometimes in rural areas, projects take time to reach the end. But when we come together, something changes.
Hacker Days was born with the idea of solving real challenges in just one week, demonstrating that by each person contributing a little, we can build solutions that help an entire community.
Each edition will address a new challenge that emerges from the village, from its protagonists.
This year, the challenge comes from Rosabel and Olga, two women over 60 who have been managing their village's community water system for years.
Rosabel and Olga are two neighbors from the village of Anceu. They are in charge of water management. We don't have a distribution company. They are part of the Anceu Water Community board. They read 400 water meters a year, house by house every 3 months. They detect leaks, organize billing, do follow-up.
What will happen when they are no longer here?
Today, we pay €80 a year thanks to their selfless work. If community management is lost, the price will go up again for all people in the village.
What if we create an open source solution replicable in 1500 villages that facilitates continuing this collective water management system?

We need diverse talent to address this challenge from different perspectives.
If you identify with any of these profiles, we want to count on you!
To design and implement a web with authentication, resource management, and notifications.
To show the complex in a simple way and create intuitive interfaces for people with different digital levels.
To improve the user experience and ensure the solution is accessible for all age ranges.
To document what we do and replicate the model in the 1500 villages that manage water communally.
To teach those who will use it and facilitate generational change in collective water management.
To listen, understand and connect with rural reality and the needs derived from collective water management.
From September 1 to 7, 2025, we will live an intense week of collaboration, learning and creation in Anceu, Galicia.
We will meet Olga and Rosabel to thoroughly understand the water management needs. We will map current processes and define objectives.
We will work in multidisciplinary teams to design and begin building a solution that is simple, robust and adapted to real needs.
We will test the prototype with the village, collect feedback and make improvements to ensure the solution is viable and useful.
We will celebrate the week's achievements and present the prototype to other water communities, sharing learning and expanding impact. The prototype will remain operational in Anceu for validation.
We facilitate their essential work and ensure their effort has continuity.
A replicable solution that can help hundreds of communities with the same challenge.
A transformative experience that will connect you with life in the village.
One week of your talent can mean years of autonomy and community for many people.
